The electrically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) stores the EVO/Passlock™ module calibrations. The electronic variable orifice (EVO)/Passlock™ module performs the internal tests on the EEPROM. The EVO/Passlock™ module indicates if any calibration faults (checksum errors) are current.
A code sets when the EVO/Passlock™ module detects an internal calibration failure (checksum error).
The EVO/Passlock™ module will not send any current to the steering assist control solenoid. This will cause the solenoid valve to retract. The retraction provides maximum fluid flow and full power steering assist at all times.
The EVO/Passlock™ module indicates no internal calibration faults (checksum errors) when the following conditions exist:
• | The ignition cycles |
• | The EVO/Passlock™ module is properly programmed |
You can not remove the EEPROM from the EVO/Passlock™ module. Replace the module if service is required.
Refer to Elec Variable Orifice Passlock Module Replacement .
The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.
This step ensures that you perform the diagnostic system check.
This step checks for previous replacement of the EVO/Passlock™ module.
This step indicates the EVO/Passlock™ module calibration must be complete.
This step checks for valid EEPROM I/D number storage.
This step indicates the requirement of the EVO/Passlock™ module replacement.
