  1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF or the LOCK position.
  2. Unfasten the left hand safety belt.

Is the fasten safety belts warning alarm present?

Fasten the LH safety belt.

Is the fasten safety belts warning alarm present?

Replace the audio alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.

  1. Remove the audio alarm module from the convenience center.
  2. Connect a DMM J 39200 from the convenience center cavity K1 to ground.

Is there battery voltage?

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 238 (BLK/WHT) between the instrument panel fuse block and the convenience center.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the audio alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

  1. Remove the audio alarm module from the convenience center.
  2. Use a DMM J 39200 in order to test for continuity from the convenience center cavity K1 to ground.

Is there continuity?

--

Go to Step 11

Replace the audio alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the safety belt retractor switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the inflatable restraint sensing diagnostic module.
  3. Use a DMM J 39200 in order to test for continuity from the convenience center cavity K1 to ground.

Is there continuity?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 238 (BLK/WHT) between the following components:

    • The convenience center
    • The inflatable restrains sensing diagnostic module
    • The safety belt retractor switch

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect the inflatable restrains sensing diagnostic module.
  2. Use a DMM J 39200 in order to test for continuity from the convenience center cavity K1 to ground.

Is there continuity?

  1. Test the inflatable restraint sensing diagnostic module. Refer to SIR Diagnostic System Check .
  2. Replace the inflatable restraint sensing diagnostic module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement in Restraints.
