Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the garnish molding screws.
  2. Remove the front passenger's seat belt upper retainer. Refer to Front Seat Shoulder Belt Guide Adjuster Replacement in Restraints.

  3. Object Number: 314682  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts that retain the assist handle to the pillar.

  5. Object Number: 314680  Size: SH
  6. Pull back on the garnish molding to release the fasteners.
  7. Remove the garnish molding.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear side door stepwell lamp.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the rear side door stepwell lamp.

  2. Object Number: 314680  Size: SH
  3. Install the molding to the pillar:
  4. 2.1. Align the fasteners with the slots in the pillar.
    2.2. Press firmly until the fasteners are fully seated.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the bolts that retain the assist handle to the pillar.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts that retain the assist handle to the pillar to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  7. Install the front passenger's seat belt upper retainer. Refer to Front Seat Shoulder Belt Guide Adjuster Replacement in Restraints.
  8. Install the retaining screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
