DEFINITION: The status of the security indicator never changes and the security indicator never illuminates.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR).
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the security indicator control circuit and ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Is the security indicator ON?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 3

Test the security indicator control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

Replace the security indicator. Refer to Clock Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

Test for a poor connection at the RCDLR. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Replace the RCDLR. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
