Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1242053  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screws that hold the trim panel to the instrument panel.
  2. Remove the trim panel.
  3. Remove the stop lamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the retaining ring, the pin, and the spring from the pushrod/brake pedal connection.

  5. Object Number: 1245628  Size: SH
  6. Remove the pedal mounting shaft and nut.
  7. Remove the brake pedal, exposing the brake booster pushrod and the pedal-to-dash panel bracket.

  8. Object Number: 1242052  Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake pedal cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1242053  Size: SH
  1. Install a new brake pedal cover, if needed.
  2. Coat the pedal shaft with grease.
  3. Position the brake pedal on the pedal-to-dash panel bracket and the pedal shaft.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Place the nut on the pedal mounting shaft.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal-to-pedal bracket nut to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  7. Install the pushrod to the pedal with the pin and the retaining ring.

  8. Object Number: 1242051  Size: SH
  9. Install the spring on the shaft in its original position.
  10. Connect the stop lamp switch and the connector assembly by twisting it into the pedal bracket.

  11. Object Number: 1242050  Size: SH
  12. Install the trim panel with the screws.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the trim panel screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
