DT 46612 Brushing, Seal Installer

1. Measure the play (1) of the side gear and replace a side gear washer if it exceeds limit. Refer to Side Gear Axle Direction Play Table in Manual Transmission Specifications.



2. After checking driver (1) and side gear (2) for worn or scratched thrust adjusting shim, replace it if necessary.

1. Insert the differential left side bearing (2).

Note: Coat the inner parts of the bearing, washer, shim, etc. with gear fluid.

2. Install the differential left side bearing using the bushing, DT 46612 , and a hammer.



3. Insert the speedometer drive gear (3).
4. Insert the differential right side bearing (2).
5. Install the right side bearing using the DT 46612  (1), and a hammer.



6. Insert the thrust adjusting shims to the side gears.
7. Install the side gears (1).
8. Install the pinion gears and washers (2) simultaneously.



9. Insert the pinion gear shaft into the gear pin hole by rotating (2).

Note: Use a new pin.

10. Install the pinion gear pin using a pin punch and a hammer (1).



11. Fix the differential assembly into a vise.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

12. Install the differential ring gear (1).
13. Install the ring gear bolts (2) and tighten to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
14. Install the differential assembly. Refer to Transmission Assemble.
