Fuel Tank Filler Hose Replacement Pickup
Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fuel filler pipe. Refer to
Filler Tube Replacement
.
- Drain the fuel below the level of the fuel fill hose. Refer to
Fuel Tank Draining
.
- Wipe the vent hose connection at the fuel tank and then disconnect
the vent hose and clamp (1).
- Wipe the fuel filler hose connection at the fuel tank and then
disconnect the fuel filler hose and clamp (5).
- Cap the fuel tank openings in order to prevent possible fuel system
contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the caps from the
fuel tank openings.
- Install the fuel fill and vent hoses to the fuel tank.
Tighten
• | Tighten the vent hose clamp to 1.7 N·m (15 lb
in). |
• | Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb
in). |
- Install the fuel filler pipe. Refer to
Filler Tube Replacement
.
- Refill the fuel system.
- Install the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect for leaks.
Fuel Tank Filler Hose Replacement 2-Door Utility
Removal Procedure

- Drain the fuel below the level of the fuel fill hose. Refer to

- Remove the fuel filler pipe. Refer to

- Wipe the vent hose connection at the fuel tank and then disconnect
the vent hose and clamp (1).
- Wipe the fuel filler hose connection at the fuel tank and then
disconnect the fuel filler hose and clamp (2).
- Cap the fuel tank openings in order to prevent possible fuel system
contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the caps from the fuel tank openings.
- Install the fuel fill and vent hoses to the fuel tank.
Tighten
• | Tighten the vent hose clamp to 1.7 N·m (15 lb
in). |
• | Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb
in). |
- Install the fuel filler pipe. Refer to
Filler Tube Replacement
.
- Refill the fuel system.
- Install the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect for leaks.
Fuel Tank Filler Hose Replacement 4-Door Utility
Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Wipe the vent hose connection at the fuel tank and then disconnect
the vent hose and clamp (4).
- Wipe the fuel filler hose connection at the fuel tank and then
disconnect the fuel filler hose and clamp (1).
- Disconnect the fill pipe
ground strap (1).
- Remove the fill and vent pipe bracket to frame bolt.
- Remove the fuel fill pipe
to fill pipe housing attaching screws.
- Remove the fuel fill and vent pipes and hoses.
- Remove the fuel fill and vent hoses from the pipes.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fuel fill
and vent hoses to the pipes.
Tighten
• | Tighten the vent hose clamp to 1.7 N·m (15 lb
in). |
• | Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb
in). |
- Install the fuel fill and vent pipes and hoses to the fuel tank
(2) and the fill pipe housing.
Tighten
• | Tighten the vent hose clamp to 1.7 N·m (15 lb
in). |
• | Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb
in). |
- Install the fill and vent pipe bracket to frame bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the pipe bracket bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Connect the fill pipe
ground strap (1) to the frame with the bolt and washer.
Tighten
Tighten the ground strap bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the fuel fill
pipe to fill pipe housing attaching screws.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel fill pipe to fill pipe housing screws to 1.9 N·m
(17 lb in).
- Install the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect for leaks.
