Removal Procedure

  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Remove the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  3. Remove the radiator air intake baffle. Refer to Air Intake Baffle Replacement - Radiator .
  4. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Remove the underhood fuse block assembly.

  7. Disconnect the hood latch cable from the primary latch assembly.
  8. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the clip and lift the cable assembly from the primary latch. In order to aid in installation, tie a mechanic's wire to the end of the cable.

  9. Remove the clip that retains the hood release cable to the radiator support.
  10. Pry open the clip using a flat-bladed tool.

  11. Pull the cable back through the radiator support.
  12. Remove the clip that retains the hood release cable to the right fender.
  13. Pry open the clip using a flat-bladed tool.

  14. Remove the body hinge trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side in Interior Trim.
  15. Remove the hood release cable grommet.
  16. Remove the adhesive tape securing the release cable to the side of the cowl.
  17. Remove the hood release cable and the lever bolts from the cowl side panel.
  18. Remove the hood latch cable assembly from the vehicle.
  19. Guide the cable through the cowl panel underneath the instrument panel from the inside of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hood latch assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Guide the cable through the cowl panel underneath the instrument panel from the inside of the vehicle.

  3. Guide the cable along the right fender underneath the antilock brake module and the underhood fuse block.
  4. Route the cable through the lower opening in the radiator support.
  5. Secure the release cable in the clip on the side of the right fender.
  6. Route the release cable along the front bottom of the radiator support.
  7. Secure the release cable in the clip on the radiator support by the left headlight assembly.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the hood release cable and the lever bolts to the cowl side panel.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  11. Install the hood release cable grommet in the cowl.
  12. Install the body hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side in Interior Trim.

  14. Install the hood latch cable to the latch.
  15. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  16. Install the radiator air intake baffle. Refer to Air Intake Baffle Replacement - Radiator .
  17. Install the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
