Verify that the marker, license and tail lamps are always on.

Do the marker, license and tail lamps operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the multifunction headlamp switch.

Do the marker, license, and tail lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 9

Remove the park lamp switch relay.

Do the marker, license, and tail lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Test for a short to voltage in the park lamp switch relay supply voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Was a problem found?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 10

Remove the park lamp relay from the body relay block.

Do the marker, license, and tail lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 11

Repair the short to voltage in the park lamp switch relay supply voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Repair the short to voltage in one of the following circuits. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

    • Park lamps switch signal
    • Front park lamps supply voltage
    • Left rear park lamps supply voltage
    • Right rear park lamps supply voltage
    • Trailer park lamps supply voltage

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Replace the multifunction headlamp switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Replace the park lamp switch relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
