Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly 5.7L VIN P

Removal Procedure

Notice: When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL® coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50 000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 22771 Size: SH
  3. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe mounting bolts from the cylinder heads. Use a backup wrench.
  4. Remove the upper generator bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors and vacuum hoses, as necessary, in order to gain access to the bleed pipe.
  6. Remove the air bleed pipe mounting nut at the intake manifold.
  7. Remove the clamp and the coolant hose at the air bleed pipe.
  8. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the coolant air bleed pipe.

  2. Object Number: 22771 Size: SH
  3. Install the coolant hose and the clamp at the air bleed pipe.
  4. Install the air bleed pipe mounting nut at the intake manifold.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the mounting nut to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Connect the electrical connectors and vacuum hoses as necessary.
  7. Install the upper generator bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  8. Install the coolant air bleed pipe mounting bolts to the cylinder heads. Use a backup wrench.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the mounting bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  10. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
