Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

J 37096 Flywheel Holding Tool

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission or Transmission Removal or Transmission Removal in Manual Transmission.
  2. For manual transmission, remove the flywheel housing bolts.

  3. Object Number: 36665  Size: SH
  4. Remove the flywheel bolts.
  5. Remove the flywheel. Use the J 37096 in order to prevent crankshaft rotation.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 36665  Size: SH
  1. Install the flywheel. Use the J 37096 in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.
  2. Install the flywheel bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the flywheel bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft). Use the J 36660-A in order to rotate the bolts an additional 50 degrees.

  4. For manual transmission, install the flywheel housing.
  5. For manual transmission, install the flywheel housing bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission or Transmission Installation or Transmission Installation in Manual Transmission.
