Tools Required
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner assembly, 5.7L only. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls-5.7L.
- Remove the radiator intake hose from the radiator and reposition
away from the pulley. Refer to
Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the drive belt from the power steering pulley. Refer to
one of the following procedures:
- Use the J 25034-C
in order to remove the power steering
pulley from the power steering pump.
Installation Procedure
Important:
• | 3.8 Liter Engine: Ensure that the face of the power steering pulley
hub is flush with the end of the power steering pump shaft before you apply
a load to the power steering pulley hub. |
• | 5.7 Liter Engine: Ensure that the power steering pulley hub shoulder
bottoms out completely on the power steering pulley shaft before you apply
a load to the power steering pulley hub. |
• | Ensure that the power steering pulley goes on snug when installing
the power steering pulley with the special tool. If the power steering pulley
installs onto the power steering pump shaft too easily, it will not relay
engine power to the power steering pump and should be replaced. |
- Use the J 25033-C
in
order to install the power steering pulley to the power steering pump.
- Install the radiator intake hose to the radiator, 5.7L only. Refer
to
Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Install the air cleaner assembly, 5.7L only. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls-5.7L.
- Install the drive belt to the power steering pulley. Refer to
one of the following procedures:
- Check the power steering pulley for correct operation.
