Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the radiator fan upper shroud, if equipped. Refer to Radiator Fan Upper and Lower Shroud Replacement in Cooling and Radiator.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 39900  Size: SH
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner bolts.
  5. Remove the tensioner from the bracket.
  6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if the vehicle is equipped with a mechanical fan. Refer to General Information.

  7. Object Number: 73982  Size: SH
  8. Remove the belt tensioner bolts.
  9. Remove the tensioner from the bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 73982  Size: SH
  1. Install the tensioner to the bracket.
  2. Install the drive belt tensioner bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Lower the vehicle.

  6. Install the tensioner to the bracket, if removed.
  7. Install the drive belt tensioner bolts, if removed.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Install the accessory drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  10. Install the radiator fan upper shroud if the radiator fan upper shroud has been removed. Refer to Radiator Fan Upper and Lower Shroud Replacement in Cooling and Radiator.
