  1. Disconnect the generator connector.
  2. Attach the fused jumper from the generator connector terminal L to the ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the Volts or Check Gauge indicator ON?

  1. Disconnect the C205 connector.
  2. Install a DVM to the ground at the terminal C of connector C205 (engine side).

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 3

Install a fused jumper wire from the ground to the instrument connector C1 (Chev) or C2 (Buick) CKT25 (leave the cluster connected).

Is the Volts or Check Gauge indicator ON?

--

Go to Step 8

Using a DVM to ground, check for B+ at the instrument cluster connector C2 terminal A11 (CHecv) or A9 (Buick).

Is B+ present?

--

Go to Step 9

  1. Repair the open in CKT39.
  2. IF OK, repair B+ to I/P INDC fuse 11.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Check for poor connection at the generator terminal L.
  2. If OK, repair or replace the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .

Repair the open in CKT25 from connector C205 to terminal L of the generator connection.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT25 from instrument cluster to connector C205.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Check the connections at the instrument cluster.
  2. If OK, check the Volts or Check Gauge indicator bulb.
  3. If OK, service the instrument cluster.
