- Install the selector lever (2) to the stud.
- Install the nut (4).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bracket (6) to the frame (8).
- Install the bracket bolts/screws (7).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts/screws to 21 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Connect the following components to the equalizer lever (14):
- Connect the equalizer lever (14) to the bracket (6).
Important: Make sure that the transmission is in neutral.
- Connect the equalizer lever (14) to the selector lever (2).
- Secure the equalizer lever (14) with the retainer (3).
- Install the following components to the rod (15):

(Finger tighten at this time.)
- Install the rod (15) through the bracket on the steering column
(20).
- Attach the following components to the rod (15):
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the shift control linkage. Refer to
Shift Linkage and Adjustment Shift Positions
