Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 106360  Size: MH
  1. Place the transmission control lever in the neutral gate latch.
  2. Remove the following components:
  3. 2.1. The retainer (19)
    2.2. The washer (18)
    2.3. The bearing (17)
    2.4. The insulator (16)
  4. Remove the rod (15) from the steering column (20).
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  6. Remove the following components from the equalizer lever (14):
  7. 5.1. The swivel bolt/screw (11)
    5.2. The washer (12)
    5.3. The swivel (13)
  8. Remove the rod (15) from the equalizer lever (14).
  9. Remove the retainer (3).
  10. Remove the equalizer lever (14).
  11. Remove the following components from the equalizer lever (14):
  12. 9.1. The insulator (9)
    9.2. The washer (5)
    9.3. The spring (10)
  13. Remove the bracket bolts/screws (7).
  14. Remove the bracket (6).
  15. Remove the nut (4).
  16. Remove the selector lever (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 106360  Size: MH
  1. Install the selector lever (2) to the stud.
  2. Install the nut (4).
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bracket (6) to the frame (8).
  5. Install the bracket bolts/screws (7).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 21 N·m (16 lb ft).

  7. Connect the following components to the equalizer lever (14):
  8. 5.1. The spring (10)
    5.2. The washer (5)
    5.3. The insulator (9)
  9. Connect the equalizer lever (14) to the bracket (6).
  10. Important: Make sure that the transmission is in neutral.

  11. Connect the equalizer lever (14) to the selector lever (2).
  12. Secure the equalizer lever (14) with the retainer (3).
  13. Install the following components to the rod (15):
  14. 9.1. The swivel (13)
    9.2. The washer (18)
    9.3. The swivel bolt/screw (11)

    (Finger tighten at this time.)

  15. Install the rod (15) through the bracket on the steering column (20).
  16. Attach the following components to the rod (15):
  17. 11.1. The insulator (16)
    11.2. The bearing (17)
    11.3. The washer (18)
    11.4. The retainer (19)
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Adjust the shift control linkage. Refer to Shift Linkage and Adjustment Shift Positions .
