Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 1764789  Size: SH
  4. Measure the thread length from the end of the pull rod to the hex nut.
  5. Remove the park brake adjustment nut from the eye bolt pull rod.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  7. Object Number: 1764797  Size: SH
  8. Remove the park brake cable ends from the park brake cable equalizer.
  9. Remove the park brake cable equalizer.
  10. Remove the park brake cable from the rear backing plate assembly. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 1764810  Size: SH
  12. Remove the park brake cable to underbody bolts.
  13. Remove the park brake cable.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the park brake cable to the rear backing plate assembly. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate Replacement .
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1764810  Size: SH
  3. Install the park brake cable bracket to underbody bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the park brake cable bracket to underbody bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  5. Install the park brake cable equalizer.
  6. Install the park brake cable ends to the park brake cable equalizer.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 1764789  Size: SH
  9. Install the park brake adjustment nut to the eye bolt pull rod. Inspect the park brake adjustment by referring to the original removal adjustment nut measurement taken in the removal procedure. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  10. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement .
