Tools Required

1. Remove the universal joint. Refer to Universal Joint Replacement .



2. Remove the yoke nut or bolt and the washers, using the J 3453 .



3. Remove the yoke using the J 7804-A .

1. Ensure that the splines are aligned and the yokes are in phase. Refer to Propeller Shaft Description and Operation .
2. Tap on the yoke in order to ensure that the yoke is completely seated against the propeller shaft.
3. Install the yoke (2).



4. Install the yoke nut to the yoke.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

5. Tighten the yoke nut. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
6. Install the universal joint. Refer to Universal Joint Replacement .
