Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement Upper

1. Remove the positive battery cable from the fan shroud.



2. Remove the fan shroud upper bolts.
3. Remove the fan shroud upper to lower bolts.
4. Remove the fan shroud - upper.
5. If necessary, raise and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
6. Remove the fan shroud lower bolts.
7. Remove the fan shroud - lower.

1. Install the fan shroud - lower.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the fan shroud lower bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the fan shroud bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Install the fan shroud - upper.
5. Install the fan shroud upper bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the fan shroud bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

6. Install the fan shroud upper to lower bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the fan shroud bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).




7. Install the positive battery cable to the fan shroud.

Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement Lower

1. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
2. Raise the vehicle.



3. For the 8.1L, remove the lower fan shroud bolts and the lower fan shroud.



4. For the 6.5L (Diesel), remove the lower fan shroud bolts and the lower fan shroud.
5. Inspect the lower fan shroud for signs of damage. If necessary, replace the lower fan shroud.

1. For the 8.1L, install the lower fan shroud and the lower fan shroud bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (71 lb in).




2. For the 6.5L (Diesel), install the lower fan shroud and the lower fan shroud bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (71 lb in).

3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
