Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 317717  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect both the battery negative cables from the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the upper fan shroud from the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the drive belt from the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  5. Remove the engine cooling fan from the water pump. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  6. Important: When performing this service procedure, the air conditioning compressor does not have to be evacuated. Reposition the A/C compressor to the side.

  7. Remove the air conditioning compressor from the engine lift bracket (if equipped), and position to the side.
  8. Remove the idler pulleys from the engine lift bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  9. Remove the auxiliary generator if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  11. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

  12. Object Number: 309354  Size: SH
  13. Remove the inlet heater hose from the thermostat housing and position out of the way.
  14. Remove the thermostat housing crossover from cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  15. Remove the power steering pump from the engine lift bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.

  17. Remove the bolts from the engine lift bracket.
  18. Remove the engine lift bracket from the engine block.
  19. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder and crossover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 59794  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine lift bracket to the engine block.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the engine lift bracket bolts to the cylinder head.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pump to the engine lift bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.
  6. Install the thermostat housing crossover to the cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  8. Install the inlet heater hose to the thermostat housing.

  9. Object Number: 160863  Size: SH
  10. Install the upper radiator hose and clamp to the thermostat housing and the radiator.

  11. Object Number: 317717  Size: SH
  12. Install the A/C compressor the engine lift bracket.
  13. Install idler pulleys to the engine lift bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  14. Install the auxiliary generator (if equipped) to the engine lift bracket. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  15. Install the engine cooling fan to the water pump. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  16. Install the drive belt on the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  17. Install the fan shroud on the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  18. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  19. Connect both the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
