- Remove the oil pump.
- Inspect the oil pump screen and pipe assembly for looseness. If
the tube is loose in the oil pump body, replace it. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement

- For oil pump repair refer to Oil Pump Repair in Engine Mechanical.
Installation Procedure
- Install the oil pump to the engine. Align the slot in the oil
pump shaft with the tang on the distributor shaft. The oil pump should slide
easily into place. No gasket is used.
- Install the oil pump bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the oil pan. Refer to
