Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 4548  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pump to crankshaft main bearing cap bolt.

  4. Object Number: 4549  Size: SH
  5. Remove the oil pump.
  6. Inspect the oil pump pickup tube for looseness.
  7. If the tube is loose in the oil pump body, replace it. A loose pickup tube can result in an air leak and loss of oil pressure.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 4549  Size: SH
  1. Align the slot in the oil pump shaft with the tang on the distributor shaft.
  2. Slide the oil pump into place. No gasket is used.

  3. Object Number: 4548  Size: SH
  4. Install the oil pump to crankshaft main bearing cap bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump to crankshaft main bearing cap bolt to 90 N·m (65 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
