Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering pump brace; and remove the pulley. Refer
to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
.
- Remove the supply return
and the reservoir hoses at the pump.
2.1. | Raise the hoses up to prevent the drainage of the fluid. |
2.2. | Cap or tape the ends of the hoses and pump the openings to prevent
the entrance of dirt. |
2.3. | Tag the hose locations. |
- Remove the rear nut and washer.
- Remove the rear bracket bolts and the bracket.
Notice: Do not Hammer the pump off the engine. Damage to the pump housing may
result.
- Remove the power steering pump front mounting bolts and pump from the
bracket.
- Remove the flow control valve, if replacement is required, from
the steering test procedure. Refer to Power Steering System Test Procedure

Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the new
control valve, if required. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle
.
- Install the power steering pump to the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering pump front mounting bolts to 40 N·m
(30 lb ft).
- Install the power steering pump rear bracket and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to the engine to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the power steering
pump bracket rear mounting nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the supply return and reservoir hoses to the pump.
- Install the power steering pulley; and replace the pump brace.
