Caliper and Anchor Plate Wear Adjustments Bendix

- Remove the caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
.
- Clean surfaces 1, 2, 3, and 4 with a wire brush.
- Smooth any deep nicks and/or gouges with a file.
- Measure the caliper contact surface for
wear.
4.1. | Lay a straight-edge across the caliper surfaces. |
4.2. | Measure the maximum depth of any wear on these surfaces using
feeler gauges. |
4.3. | Replace calipers worn to a depth of 1.27 mm (0.050 in)
or more. |
- Measure the caliper-to-anchor plate wear.
5.1. | Install the caliper back into the knuckle. |
5.2. | Install a new standard size key without the spring. |
5.3. | Install the key retention bolt. |
5.4. | Insert a screwdriver into the center of the key bumper gap. |
5.5. | Pry firmly to ensure that the caliper is seated at surfaces 1,
2, and 3. |
5.6. | Measure the bumper gap with the largest feeler gauge(s) that will
fit into the gap its full length (5). |
- Install the caliper. Refer to
