Removal Procedure

    Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Place protective covering over the adjacent body panels.
  3. Remove the sound insulator retainers (3) from the hood.
  4. Remove the sound insulator (2) from the hood.
  5. Remove the hood hinge bolts from the upper hood hinges (1) with an assistant.
  6. Remove the hood from the vehicle with an assistant.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hood to the vehicle with an assistant.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hood hinge bolts to the upper hood hinges (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Install the sound insulator (2) to the hood.
  6. Install the sound insulator retainers (3) to the hood.
  7. Remove protective covering from the body panels.
  8. Adjust the hood. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
