Rocker Panel Retaining Plate Replacement XTREME
Removal Procedure
Important: This procedure is for the front and rear rocker molding retaining plates located on the pick-up box:
- Raise the vehicle to gain access to the lower rocker molding retaining clips.
Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing
an emblem/name plate.
- Apply masking tape to protect the painted surfaces.
- Remove the rear wheel opening flare. Refer to
Rear Wheel Opening Flare Replacement
.
- Remove the front section of the rocker molding retaining plate on the pick-up box.
- Remove the push-in pins across the underside.
Push upward to release the molding from the retainer.
- Remove the rocker retainer plate.
6.1. | Drill out the rivets. |
6.2. | Remove the rocker molding retaining plate. |
Important: This procedure is for the rear section of the rocker molding on the pick-up box retaining plate:
- Remove the rear wheel opening molding. Refer to
Rear Wheel Opening Flare Replacement
- Remove the push-in pins across the underside side of the rocker molding.
- Remove the rocker molding (1).
Push upward to release the molding from the retainer.

9.2. | Remove the rocker molding retaining plate (2). |
Installation Procedure
- Install the front section of the rocker molding retaining plate to the vehicle.
- Install the rivets to the rocker molding retaining plate.
- Install the rocker molding to the retaining plate.
- Install the push-in pins across the underside of the rocker molding.
- If doing the rear section rocker molding retaining plate (2).
- Install the rivets to the rocker molding retaining plate.
- Install the rocker molding (1) to the retaining plate.
- Install the push-in pins across the underside of the rocker molding.
- Install the rear wheel opening flare. Refer to
Rear Wheel Opening Flare Replacement
- Remove the masking tape.
- Lower the vehicle.
