Electric Cooling Fan Left Side

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Remove the radiator upper support. Refer to Section 10A.

  4. Object Number: 11642  Size: SH
  5. Remove the shroud upper retaining bolts.
  6. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.
  7. Remove the skid bar. Refer to Section 10-5.

  8. Object Number: 11643  Size: SH
  9. Remove the left fan motor electrical connector.
  10. Remove the right cooling fan. Refer to Electric Cooling Fan .

  11. Object Number: 11644  Size: SH
  12. Remove the fan shroud with the left fan still connected.
  13. Remove the left cooling fan motor/blade.
  14. Remove the left cooling fan from the shroud.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the left cooling fan blade/motor.

  2. Object Number: 11644  Size: SH
  3. Install the bolts retaining the left cooling fan to the fan shroud.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the cooling fan to fan shroud bolts to 10 N·m (89  lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the fan shroud and lower mount bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws retaining the fan shroud to lower support to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the bolts retaining the right cooling fan to the fan shroud.

  8. Object Number: 11643  Size: SH
  9. Install the left fan motor electrical connector.
  10. Install the skid bar. Refer to Section 10-5.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten skid bar bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Object Number: 12062  Size: SH
  14. Install the radiator upper support. Refer to Section 10A.

  15. Object Number: 11642  Size: SH
  16. Install the shroud upper retaining bolts.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the shroud upper radiator bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  18. Connect the negative battery cable.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

Electric Cooling Fan Right Side

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

  2. Object Number: 11657  Size: SH
  3. Remove the upper bolts retaining the cooling fans to the shroud.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.
  5. Remove the skid bar. Refer to Section 10-5.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector at the cooling fan motor.
  7. Remove the lower bolts retaining the fan to the shroud.
  8. Remove the right cooling fan.
  9. Remove the right cooling fan motor/blade.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the right cooling fan motor/blade.
  2. Install the right cooling fan.

  3. Object Number: 11657  Size: SH
  4. Install the lower screws retaining the cooling fan to the shroud.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the cooling fan retaining screws to the shroud to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the electrical connector to the cooling fan motor.
  7. Install the skid bar.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the skid bar bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the upper bolts retaining the cooling fan to the shroud.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the cooling fan to fan shroud bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
