Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission.
- Remove the engine flywheel
bolts.
- Remove the engine flywheel.
Installation Procedure
Important: To retain proper engine balance, flywheel balance weights must be installed
using the following procedure:
• | If a flywheel is replaced, inspect the old flywheel to see if
balance weights have been inserted in any of the 24 weight holes. |
• | If there are weights installed on the old flywheel, new balance
weights must be installed on the new flywheel in the same hole locations as
found on the old flywheel, relative to the crankshaft dowel pin. |
• | Install weights that are 12.7 mm (0.50 in.) in length. |
• | Install weights into the appropriate holes until a flush fit is
obtained. |
- Install the engine flywheel
to crankshaft.
- Align the locator hole to the pin.
- Install the engine flywheel bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the engine flywheel bolts to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the transmission.
