1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to SECTION 0A.
2. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
3. Remove the complete exhaust system. Refer to General Exhaust System Replacement
4. Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to SECTION 4A.



5. Remove the seal a small amount at a time. Work around the perimeter of the extension housing rear oil seal.

Tools Required

J 21359-A Extension Housing Seal Installer

1. Lubricate the inside diameter of the seal. Use Transmission Gear Lubricant GM P/N 1052931, or the equivalent.



2. Install the output shaft seal. Use J 21359-A .
3. Install the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to SECTION 4A.
4. Inspect the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Inspection .
5. Install the complete exhaust system. Refer to General Exhaust System Replacement
6. Remove the safety stands.
7. Lower the vehicle.
