Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 82261  Size: A3
  1. Remove the pump assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump and Bracket .
  2. Remove the retaining ring (3) from the housing (1).

  3. Object Number: 82253  Size: SH
  4. Remove the drive shaft and the ball bearing assembly from the housing.
  5. 3.1. Measure the clearance before bearing removal when clearance exists between the drive shaft shoulder and the bearing inner race.
    3.2. Remove the bearing from the shaft.

  6. Remove the drive shaft seal (2) from the pump housing assembly (1).
  7. Clean all the parts in the power steering fluid.
  8. Clean the dry parts.
  9. Inspect the drive shaft and the splines.
  10. Inspect the ball bearing assembly.
  11. Replace parts that have scoring or pitting.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 82257  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the new drive shaft seal (2) with power steering fluid.
  2. Use a suitable socket (1) to install the seal (2) into the pump housing (3).

  3. Object Number: 82256  Size: SH
  4. Perform the following steps to install the ball bearing (5) to the drive shaft (2):
  5. 3.1. Press the ball bearing (3) to the shoulder of the drive shaft (2) to the clearance measured prior to removal of the old bearing.
    3.2. Install the drive shaft (5) and the ball bearing (3) into the housing assembly.
    3.3. Rotate the drive shaft (5) so that the shaft serration (4) engages with the pump rotor.

  6. Install the retaining ring (3) to the housing (1).
  7. Install the pump assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump and Bracket .
