Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Drain the power steering fluid.

  4. Remove the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir .

  5. Object Number: 65347  Size: SH
  6. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  7. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley .

  8. Object Number: 65356  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) from the power steering pump (1).

  10. Object Number: 65354  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  12. Remove the power steering pump and bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 65354  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump and bracket.
  2. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to the steering pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley .
  7. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  9. Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to

  11. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  12. Refill the power steering reservoir.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
