Did you perform the BCM Diagnostic System Check?

Use a scan tool to check for any steering column DTCs stored in the BCM. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type in Body Control Systems.

Are any of the following steering column DTCs stored:

    • Is DTC B2587 stored?
    • Is DTC B2588 stored?
    • Is DTC B2592 stored?
    • Is DTC B2593 stored?

Was the steering column connector C207 disconnected with the ignition switch in the ON position?

--

Go to Step 18

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Disconnect the steering column connector C207.
  4. Use a scan tool to monitor the key-OUT-of-ignition status.

Does the scan tool indicate key-OUT-of-ignition status as ACTIVE?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Use a scan tool to monitor the key-IN-ignition status.

Does the scan tool indicate key-IN-ignition status as ACTIVE?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Use a scan tool to monitor the key-IN-ignition status.

Does the scan tool indicate key-IN-ignition status as INACTIVE?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Connect a test light between terminal D and terminal C at the steering column connector C207 harness side.
  4. Use a scan tool to cycle the steering column lock/unlock motor.

Did the test light illuminate in both the lock and the unlock positions?

  1. Turn ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Disconnect the BCM connector C3.
  4. Connect a test light to B+.
  5. Use the test light to probe the BCM connector terminal harness side B8.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  2. Ensure the test light is still connected to B+.
  3. Use the test light to probe the BCM connector terminal harness side C6.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

System OK

Go to Step 10

  1. Check for an open in CKT 159 or in CKT 150.
  2. Repair the open in CKT 159 or in CKT 150.

Is the repair complete?

--

  1. Check for one of the following conditions:
  2. • Check for an open in CKT 60.
    • Check for a short to ground in CKT 60.
    • Check for a short to voltage in CKT 60.
  3. Repair as necessary.

  1. Check for an open in CKT 1603 or in CKT 1604.
  2. Repair the open in CKT 1603 or in CKT 1604.

    • Check for a short to ground in CKT 1601.

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
  2. Program the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .

Is the replacement complete and is the new BCM setup procedure complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the BCM fuse #25 for 15 seconds to clear the BCM steering column fail enable mode.
  3. Reconnect the disconnected connectors.
  4. Reinstall any removed components.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  6. Clear any BCM DTCs. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type .

Are all the DTCs cleared?
