If the release cable will not operate the latch, the hood latch can be accessed by raising the vehicle and removing the front wheelhouse rear filler panel. The latch can then be tripped with a long screw driver.

1. Remove the right and left hood latches. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .
2. Disconnect the release cable from the latches.



3. Remove the release cable from the dash panel retainers (1).
4. Reposition the cables so the will smoothly slide through the opening in the dash panel.



5. Remove the screws from the release cable handle.
6. Remove the release cable grommet from the dash panel.
7. Pull the release cables through the opening in the dash panel.

1. Route the cables through the opening in the dash panel to the latches.



2. Position the latch handle.
3. Install the screws mounting the handle.



4. Install the cable grommet, through the slits in the carpet insulator, into the dash panel.



5. Connect the cables to the latches.
6. Install the latches. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .

Tighten
Tighten the hood latch mounting bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.




7. Install the cable to the retainers (1).
8. Check the operation of the latches.
