The column is not aligned correctly.

1. Check the following:

•	Check the column alignment.

•	Check the mounting.

•	Check the bearings.

2. Adjust repair and/or replace as needed.

Refer to Steering Column Replacement .

The shaft seal is deformed or improperly installed.

1. Inspect for proper installation.
2. Reseat and tighten to specifications.
3. Replace as needed

Refer to Lower Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, Column Jacket - Off Vehicle

The intermediate shaft universal joint is tight.

Clean, inspect and replace as needed.

Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .

The upper or the lower bearing is damaged.

1. Inspect the upper and/or the lower bearing(s).
2. Replace as needed.
