Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 214784  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screws retaining both of the RH taillamps.
  2. Remove both of the RH taillamps.
  3. Disconnect the antenna electrical connector from the rear body wiring harness.
  4. Remove the nut retaining the antenna cable strap (1), antenna shield strap (3) and antenna short braided ground strap (2) to the rear fascia retaining stud, then reposition the straps.

  6. Remove the RH quarter panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  7. Important: Note the positioning of the antenna noise suppression shield on the quarter panel, prior to removal.

  8. Remove the antenna noise suppression shield from the quarter panel.
  9. Remove all traces of the old antenna shield from the quarter panel and clean the underside of the quarter panel in the area surrounding the shield, to ensure good adhesion of the new shield.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the backing from the new antenna noise suppression shield.
  2. Important: Use care to ensure that the new antenna noise suppression shield in aligned properly to the quarter panel.

  3. Align the antenna shield to the quarter panel, as noted prior to removal.
  4. Beginning along the top edge of the darter panel, carefully apply the shield completely to the quarter panel.

    Important: The sequence listed for installing the antenna short braided ground strap, the antenna shield strap and the antenna cable strap must be followed to assure good connections over time.

  6. Install the antenna short braided ground strap (2), then the antenna shield strap (3), then the antenna cable strap (1), to the rear fascia retaining stud.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Use care to not twist and damage the antenna shield strap when tightening the retaining nut.

  8. Install the nut retaining the straps to the rear fascia retaining stud.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the antenna short braided ground strap, shield strap and cable strap retaining nut to 5.8 N·m (51 lb in).

  10. Connect the antenna electrical connector to the rear body wiring harness.
  11. Install both of the RH taillamps.
  12. Install the screws retaining both of the RH taillamps.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the taillamp retaining screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
