Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 71215  Size: SH
  1. Remove the seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster or Manual Seat Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 71218  Size: SH

    Important: The seatback cover must be partially removed to access the tabs on the back of the release lever. Do not attempt to pry the release lever bezel or the release lever out of the seatback.

  3. Partially remove the seat back trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement or Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 281998  Size: SH
  5. Remove the release cable mechanism from the upper seat back by depressing the taps and pushing the release lever out of the seatback frame.
  6. Remove the bezel from the release lever by spreading the bezel locking tabs.
  7. Remove the seatback cover from the release lever.

  9. Push down on the seat cushion to expose the hinge bolt nuts.
  10. Remove the right and left hinge bolt nuts.
  11. Remove the release lever cables from the hinges.
  12. Remove the release cables and mechanism out through the seatback frame.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 171524  Size: SH
  1. Insert the release cables through the opening in the upper seatback frame.

  2. Object Number: 71219  Size: SH
  3. Install the release cables to the right and left hinges inserting the locking pins in the notches.
  4. Apply a thread locking compound to the hinge bolts.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the nuts to the right and left hinge bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the hinge bolt nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the seatback trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement or Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  9. Install the seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster or Manual Seat Replacement .
