Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  1. Position the folding top with the #1 and #5 bow up.
  2. Remove the seal compression panel. Refer to Folding Top Seal Compression Panel Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 784488  Size: SH
  4. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, remove the top cover staples from the #1 bow.

  5. Object Number: 784495  Size: SH
  6. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, remove the headliner staples from the #1 bow.
  7. Pull the top cover back over the #3 bow.

  8. Object Number: 784498  Size: SH
  9. Remove the headliner side screws from the #1 bow.

  10. Object Number: 784499  Size: SH
  11. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, remove the headliner extension push-on retainers from the studs on the #1 bow.

  12. Object Number: 784505  Size: SH
  13. Remove the headliner retainer screws from the #2 bow.

  14. Object Number: 214136  Size: SH
  15. Position the top in a closed position with the folding top stowage lid open to gain access to the headliner attachments.
  16. Remove the retainer screws to the headliner elastic strap from the #5 bow.
  17. Remove the retainer screws to the headliner elastic strap from the rear side rail.
  18. Remove the headliner screws from the rear side rail.

  20. Position the #1 and #5 bow up to gain access to the #4 bow screws.

  21. Object Number: 784512  Size: SH
  22. Remove the support strap screws to the rear window from the number four bow.
  23. Remove the headliner retainer screws from the #4 bow.

  24. Object Number: 784514  Size: SH
  25. Remove the headliner retainer screws from the #3 bow.
  26. Remove the headliner.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

  1. Install the headliner retainer to the #3 bow.

  2. Object Number: 784514  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the headliner retainer screws to the #3 bow.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the headliner retainer screws to the #4 bow.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the support strap screws for the rear window to the #4 bow.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the retainer screws for the headliner elastic strap to the rear side rails.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the headliner screws to the rear side rails.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  13. Install the retainers screws for the headliner elastic strap to the #5 bow.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  15. Position the #1 and #5 bow up.

  16. Object Number: 784505  Size: SH
  17. Install the headliner retainer screws to the #2 bow.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the to 2 N·m (18 lb in).


    Object Number: 784499  Size: SH
  19. Install the headliner extension push-on retainers to the #1 bow stud.

  20. Object Number: 784498  Size: SH
  21. Install the right and left side headliner screws to the #1 bow.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).


    Object Number: 790096  Size: SH
  23. Staple the headliner to the #1 bow.
  24. Before stapling the top cover to the #1 bow, refer to Folding Top Cover Tension Adjustment - Front .
  25. Reposition the folding top to the original position.
