Removal Procedure
Special care is necessary when cleaning, removing, and/or storing.
• | Flush with water to remove dust and dirt, then dry the panel. |
• | Clean a transparent panel with GM Glass Cleaner. Leave the cleaner on the panel for one minute, then wipe the panel with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use glass cleaner on a painted panel. |
• | Do not use abrasive cleaning materials on either type of panel. |
If water drops are frequently allowed to dry on the panel, impurities in the water will adhere to the window. These impurities may etch or mar the finish. When the panel gets wet, dry it off.
Note:
• | To avoid damage to painted surfaces, hood window removal is best performed from the underside of hood. |
• | When replacing the hood window it is necessary to replace the window seal. |
• | Before cutting out the hood window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces. |
- Remove the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement.
Warning: Refer to Eye Protection Warning in the Preface section.
Note: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the hood window.
- Remove the hood window from the urethane adhesive.
• | Leave a base of urethane approximately 2 mm (0.078 in) on the hood flange. |
• | The only suitable lubrication is clear water. |
• | Use
J-24402-A Remover
,
J-39032 Removal Tool
, or equivalent to remove the window. |
- Remove the window (1) from the hood (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the hood window into the opening. Refer to
Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows.
- Install the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement.
- Close the hood.
- Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
