Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement LS3, LS7

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 663178  Size: SH
  1. Place a drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  2. Remove the capstick (1) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) and remove as much power steering fluid as possible.
  3. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir bracket (5).
  4. Remove the following components from the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2):
  5. • The power steering reservoir outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement.
    • The power steering return hose. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement.
  6. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 663178  Size: SH
  1. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Note: Make sure that the alignment mark on the power steering return hose is installed at the bottom of the remote power steering fluid reservoir.

  3. Install the following components to the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2):
  4. • The power steering reservoir outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement.
    • The power steering return hose. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement.
  5. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) to the remote power steering fluid reservoir bracket (5).
  6. Clean any excessive power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  7. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement LS9

Removal Procedure

  1. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  3. Object Number: 2132664  Size: SH
  4. Compress the power steering gear inlet hose clamp (1).
  5. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir.

  6. Object Number: 2132666  Size: SH
  7. Compress the power steering fluid cooler hose clamp (1).
  8. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler hose (2) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir.

  9. Object Number: 2132662  Size: SH
  10. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir nuts (1).
  11. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2132662  Size: SH
  1. Position the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir nuts (1) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Object Number: 2132666  Size: SH
  4. Compress the power steering fluid cooler hose clamp (1).
  5. Connect the power steering fluid cooler hose (2) to the remote power steering fluid reservoir and release the clamp.

  6. Object Number: 2132664  Size: SH
  7. Compress the power steering gear inlet hose clamp (1).
  8. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the remote power steering fluid reservoir and release the clamp.
  9. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  10. Fill and bleed the power steering fluid system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
