DEFINITION: The theft deterrent alarm does not chirp when the system is armed and does not sound when the system is in alarm mode.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

  1. Open the driver and passenger windows.
  2. Remove the keys from the ignition.
  3. Close all the doors, rear compartment and the hood.
  4. Lock the doors with the transmitter.

Do the turn signals flash to confirm content theft deterrent (CTD) theft system arming?

Go to Step 3

Go to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Alarm Mode Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the theft deterrent alarm.
  2. Connect a test light between the alarm battery circuit and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test light across the alarm circuits.
  2. Open the driver and passenger windows.
  3. Remove the keys from the ignition.
  4. Close all the doors, rear compartment and the hood.
  5. Lock the doors with the transmitter.
  6. Open the hood.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Test for an open or short to ground in the battery feed circuit of the theft deterrent alarm. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs .
  2. Replace the fuse if necessary.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 11

Test for an open in the ground feed circuit of the theft deterrent alarm. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Test for a poor connection at the theft deterrent alarm . Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Test for a poor connection at the intelligent switching unit (ISU). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Important:  Perform the program procedure for the ISU.

Replace the ISU.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
