Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the hazard lamp switch to the ON position.

Do the hazard flashers operate correctly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the left and right turn signals.

Does at least one left and one right turn signal lamp operate correctly, including the turn indicators?

Go to Step 4

Are only the left or right side hazard flashers inoperative?

Go to Step 5

Test the right turn signal supply voltage circuit or the left turn signal supply voltage circuit of the hazard switch between the hazard switch and the I/P fuse block for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the hazard switch in the ON position.
  3. Place the turn signal switch in either the left or right turn signal position.

Do the hazard flashers operate with the turn signal ON?

Go to Step 7

Test the turn signal relay circuit of the hazard switch for an open or high resistance between S200 and the hazard switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the hazard switch for an open, high resistance or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn ON the hazard switch.
  2. Back probe the turn/hazard module signal circuit at the hazard switch connector with a test light that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp flash ON and OFF?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the hazard switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the hazard switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
