Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2009 🢒 Equinox 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 3.4L 🢒 Camshaft Timing Chain and Sprocket Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 2041441 Size: SH
  2. Remove the camshaft sprocket bolts.
  3. Remove the camshaft sprocket and timing chain.

    4. Object Number: 760405 Size: SH
  4. Remove the crankshaft sprocket.

    5. Object Number: 59271 Size: SH
  5. Remove the timing chain dampener bolts.
  6. Remove the timing chain dampener.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 760405 Size: SH
  1. Install the crankshaft sprocket.
  2. Apply prelube GM P/N 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or the equivalent to the crankshaft sprocket thrust surface.

    3. Object Number: 59271 Size: SH
  3. Install the timing chain dampener.

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the timing chain dampener bolts and tighten to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

    5. Object Number: 660215 Size: SH
  5. Align the crankshaft timing mark (2) to the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain dampener (1).
  6. Hold the camshaft sprocket with the timing chain hanging down and install the timing chain to the crankshaft gear.
  7. Align the timing mark on the camshaft gear (4) with the timing mark on top of the timing chain dampener (3).

    8. Object Number: 2041441 Size: SH
  8. Align the dowel in the camshaft with the dowel hole in the camshaft sprocket.
  9. Draw the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft using the mounting bolts.
  10. Coat the crankshaft and camshaft sprocket with engine oil and tighten the bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
  11. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
