Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cables

1. Complete the lever pin up procedure. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .



2. Loosen the cable at the cable adjuster.



3. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the rear park brake cables.



4. Remove the park brake release handle and the cable from the vehicle. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .



5. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the park brake lever.



6. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the park brake lever retainer.



7. Remove the rubber grommet from the cowl.
8. Remove the front park brake cable from the vehicle.

1. Install the front park brake cable through the vehicle.



2. Connect the rubber grommet into the cowl.



3. Connect the front park brake cable to the park brake lever retainer.



4. Connect the front park brake cable to the park brake lever.



5. Install the park brake release handle and the cable. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .



6. Connect the front park brake cable to the rear park brake cables.
7. Remove the pin from the park brake lever.
8. Move the lever to the FULL up position.



9. Measure the threads on the equalizer. Adjust the threads to the following specifications:

•	Passenger/Cargo to 13 mm (0.511 in)

•	Cutaway/Upfitters to 21 mm (0.826 in)

10. Verify that the vehicle will hold position with the brake lever depressed.
11. If additional adjustments need to be made, refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cables

1. Complete the lever pin up procedure. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .



2. Loosen the cable at the cable adjuster).
3. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the rear park brake cables.
4. Remove the rear brake shoes from the backing plate.
5. Disconnect the rear park brake cable from the backing plate retainer.



6. Remove the rear park brake cable from the vehicle.

1. Install the rear park brake cable to the vehicle.
2. Connect the rear cable to the backing plate retainer.
3. Connect the rear brake shoes to the backing plate.



4. Connect the front park brake cable to the rear park brake cables.



5. Remove the pin (1) from the park brake lever.
6. Place the lever to the FULL up position.



7. Measure the threads of the equalizer. Adjust the threads to the following specifications:

•	Passenger/Cargo to 13 mm (0.511 in)

•	Cutaway/Upfitters to 21 mm (0.826 in)

8. Verify that the vehicle will hold the position with the brake lever depressed.
9. If additional adjustments need to be made, refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
