Air Conditioning Clutch Coil Replacement 4.3L

J 33027-A A/C Clutch Hub Holder
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement.
- Use the
J 33027-A to keep the clutch drive assembly from turning.
- Remove the clutch plate retaining bolt (1).
- Remove the clutch plate assembly (2) with shims (3).
- Remove the clutch hub/bearing snap ring (4).
- Remove the clutch hub/bearing assembly (5).
- Remove the clutch coil connector bracket retaining screw (9).
- Remove the clutch coil snap ring (6).
- Remove the clutch coil assembly (7).
Installation Procedure
- Install the coil assembly (7) to the compressor (8).
- Install the coil snap ring (6).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the coil connector retaining bracket screw (9) and tighten to
9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the clutch hub/bearing assembly (5).
- Install the clutch hub/bearing snap ring (4).
- Install the clutch plate assembly (2) with shims (3).
Note: Ensure the drive plate does not drag against the pulley when the pulley is rotated.
- Measure the air gap between the pulley and the drive plate. Adjust the shims (3) to achieve a 0.35-0.65 mm (0.014-0.026 in) air gap.
- Install the clutch plate retaining bolt and tighten to
18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Hold the clutch drive plate and hub assembly with the
J 33027-A .
- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement.
