Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement Driver
Removal Procedure
- Remove the left instrument
panel (IP) insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
.
- Remove the steering column filler panel. Refer to
Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement
.
- Remove the bracket bolts from the IP driver knee bolster (not
shown).
- Remove the bracket bolts from the IP knee bolster at the instrument
carrier.
Remove the IP knee bolster bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Align the knee bolster
bracket to the instrument panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the knee
bolster bracket bolts to the instrument carrier in the sequence shown.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the bracket bolts to the IP driver knee bolster (not shown).
Tighten
Tighten the bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the steering column filler panel. Refer to
Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement
.
- Install the left IP insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
.
Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement Passenger
Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument
panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement
.
- Reposition the right IP accessory wiring junction block.
- Disconnect the wiring harness retainers from the knee bolster
bracket.
- Remove the bracket bolts from the IP passenger knee bolster.
- Remove the bracket from the IP passenger knee bolster.
Installation Procedure
- Align the IP passenger
knee bolster bracket within the IP.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

- Connect the wiring harness retainers to the IP passenger knee
bolster bracket.
- Install the right IP accessory wiring junction block.
- Install the IP trim pad. Refer to
