Installation Procedure

Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

    Object Number: 12688 Size: SH
  1. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold and on the throttle body assembly.
  2. Install a new gasket, if necessary.
  3. Install the throttle body assembly.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nuts and the bolts that retain the throttle body .
  6. Tighten
Tighten the nuts and the bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  7. Connect the throttle body coolant bypass hoses.
  8. Connect the heater pipe nut at the throttle body.

  9. Object Number: 69056 Size: SH
  10. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.

  11. Object Number: 69065 Size: SH
  12. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.

  13. Object Number: 12689 Size: SH
  14. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .

  15. Object Number: 319387 Size: SH
  16. If applicable, connect the cruise control cable to the throttle lever and the accelerator cable bracket.

  17. Object Number: 12735 Size: SH
  18. Connect the accelerator controls cable to the throttle lever and the accelerator cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .

  19. Object Number: 69062 Size: SH
  20. Install the air intake tube.
  21. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
  22. Connect the breather tube to the air intake tube.
  23. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  24. Important: Ensure the throttle operates correctly.

  25. The throttle should operate freely and without binding between full closed and wide open throttle. Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
