Inspection Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Push and pull on the tire and wheel assembly in order to inspect the end play of the bearing.
- If the bearing has any play, move the caliper away from the brake disc. Refer to
Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Verify the tightness of the wheel drive shaft nut.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 210 N·m (155 lb ft).
- Place a dial gage against the brake disc surface.
- Push and pull on the brake disc. Observe the gage. Compare the measurement to the specification.
Specification
The maximum axial end play of the front wheel bearing is 0.130 mm (0.005 in).
- If the axial end play of the front wheel bearing exceeds the specification, tighten the wheel drive shaft nut.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 240 N·m (177 lb ft).
- Push and pull on the brake disc. Observe the gage. Compare the measurement to the specification.
Specification
The maximum axial end play of the front wheel bearing is 0.130 mm (0.005 in).
- If the axial end play of the front wheel bearing exceeds the specification, replace the front wheel bearing. Refer to
Wheel Hub, Bearing, Knuckle, and Seal Replacement.
- Install the brake components. Refer to
Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement.
- Lower the vehicle.
