Timing Belt Cover Replacement Left Side

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 57222  Size: SH
  1. Remove the left timing belt cover retaining bolts.
  2. Remove the left timing belt cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 57222  Size: SH
  1. Install the left timing belt cover.
  2. Install the left timing belt cover retaining bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the left timing belt cover retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Timing Belt Cover Replacement Right Side

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the ignition coil pack and the harness. Refer to Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the ignition coil pack bracket and brace. Refer to Engine Electrical.

  5. Remove the right upper timing belt cover retaining bolts.
  6. Remove the right upper timing belt cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 57222  Size: SH
  1. Install the right upper timing belt cover.
  2. Install the right upper timing belt cover retaining bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   4. Install the ignition coil pack bracket and brace. Refer to Engine Electrical.
  5. Install the ignition coil pack and harness. Refer to Engine Electrical.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Timing Belt Cover Replacement Center

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the PCM harness cover.
  2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  3. Remove the left timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
  4. Remove the right timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 57367  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering pipe retaining clip nut at the generator stud.

  7. Object Number: 57319  Size: SH
  8. Remove the front camshaft timing belt cover bolts.
  9. Remove the front camshaft timing belt cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 57367  Size: SH
  1. Install the front camshaft timing belt cover.
  2. Install the front camshaft timing belt cover bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the front camshaft timing belt cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   4. Install the power steering retaining clip nut on the generator stud. Refer to SECTION 3B.
  5. Install the right timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
  6. Install the left timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement
  7. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  8. Install the PCM harness cover.
