Is the instrument panel lamp bulb filament open?

Inspect fuse 28 in the fuse block.

Is fuse 28 open?

  1. Remove the instrument panel compartment lamp bulb from the socket.
  2. Using a test lamp probe the instrument panel lamp bulb terminal B and the ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Using a test lamp probe between the instrument panel lamp bulb socket terminals A and B.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 5

Using a test lamp backprobe between B+ and the instrument panel lamp switch terminal B.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Reconnect the instrument panel lamb bulb into the socket.
  2. Connect a 10A fused jumper between the instrument panel lamp switch terminal A and terminal B.

Does the instrument panel light illuminate?

Go to Step 12

Replace the instrument panel lamp bulb.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the short to ground in circuit 240.

Is the repair complete?

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 240.

  1. Inspect the instrument panel lamp connector and socket for poor connection.
  2. Repair as needed.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the instrument panel lamp switch for proper operation.
  2. Repair or replace as needed.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect any connectors/components removed.
