  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp switch.
  3. Use a test lamp in order to connect between B+ and the headlamp switch harness connector terminal B.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  7

Using a test lamp probe between the headlamp switch harness connector terminal F and the ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  8

Is the vehicle equipped with Keyless Entry (RPO AU0)?

Go to Step  4

  1. Disconnect the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) electrical connector.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Using a test lamp probe between B+ and the headlamp switch harness connector terminal C.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  9

Go to Step  6

  1. Close all vehicle doors.
  2. Using a test lamp probe between B+ and the headlamp harness connector terminal C.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  9

  1. Reconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector.
  2. Turn off the Instrument Panel (I/P) dimmer switch.
  3. Close all vehicle doors.
  4. Leave the RCDLR disconnected.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Are the courtesy lights on?

Go to Step  10

Go to Step 11

Repair short to ground in circuit 156.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

Repair short to B+ in circuit 39.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

  1. Inspect each door lock for a closed switch with the door closed.
  2. Repair short to ground in circuit 49 if all door locks are OK.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

Replace the RCDLR. Refer to Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect any of the connectors or components that were removed.

Have all repairs been made?
