Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment • Personal injury
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• Unnecessary SIR system repairs • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Tools Required
J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
- Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
- Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the front energy absorber.
- Remove the six energy absorber tabs (1) from the impact bar (2).
- Remove the front energy absorber (2) from the front impact bar (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the front absorber (2) to the front impact bar (1).
- Install the six energy absorber tabs (1) to the impact bar (2).
- Install the push-in retainers to the front energy absorber.
- Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
